1) Conduct litmus test on a sample of lime powder. Dissolve it in water and conduct the litmus test again. 2) Burn some Sulphur on a spoon while keeping it in a tumbler and covering the tumbler so that the escape of any gases is minimised. After the Sulphur burns, remove the spoon and quickly add some water to the tumbler, and keeping the lid on, shake the tumbler. Repeat the litmus test on this water.
