Light an incense stick. Close one end of the syringe using the rubber from it's plunger. Now place the incense stick inside at different positions of the plunger and measure the time it takes to extinguish in each position. Compare this with the time taken to extinguish inside a 700 ml plastic bottle. What do you think is the gas collected inside? Use the plunger and push the gas out at the flame of a candle - what happens?
