When a base is exposed to turmeric, it turns red (vermillion or kum-kum). Take a small sample of lime (Calcium Hydroxide) and add water to it. Add a sample of turmeric to the solution to see the colour change. Now add a few drops of vinegar or any other household acid and observe the colour change.
